hdbubblebox asked: Hi! I am a sophomore in high school hoping to get into Calarts. Do you have any advice on what I should really practice on while I have the time? I'm really into character designs and I try to work on anatomy as much as I can. Any advice you have is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Observational drawing can very helpful for improving one’s art, so practicing drawing people, animals, and objects from life can be really important for fully understanding poses and character design. Also, having a good grasp of color and drawing backgrounds is very useful too.
It’s also good to be yourself and to not worry about having art like everyone else. Other than that, just keep drawing and never loose focus of your goals.
(If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend Richard Williams’ “Animation Survival Kit” book for anyone interested in animation)
Here’s a short flash animation I made for class.
Anonymous asked: are you going to calarts now? or are you applying for this upcoming fall? ive seen your artwork in the tag and i wasnt sure
